CLAUDIUS
THE KING OF DENMARK

"...And lastly I would like to leave the remainder of my estate to my wife Gertrude. A small consolation at what must be a difficult time. I hope now a new light will shine over Denmark and she will be the focus of that light.

I had to do it dear friends. Nobody else dared or had the opportunity. My brother was such a lovely child and a child he always remained, one forced to wear a crown. I think he was just always pushing to see how far he could go before someone yelled stop. They never did and so it fell to me. If only it could have been someone else.

What it must have been like for him. He made it look so easy. I can't even handle it as an adult.

Farewell sweet friends. Enjoy the new dawn and hold a tiny candle of memory for me somewhere in your hearts"
